Kevin Jennings

Executive Director, Arcus Foundation

Kevin Jennings is an educator, social justice activist, and author of six books. He is Executive Director of the Arcus Foundation, a private grantmaking institution dedicated to the idea that people can live in harmony with one another and the natural world. He previously served as Assistant Deputy Secretary of Education, heading the department’s Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools. He is also the founder of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN).

Kevin holds a BA from Harvard University, an MA in education from Columbia University’s Teachers College, from which he received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2012, and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He has received numerous awards for his work, is a regular speaker on national and international platforms and is a board member of the Harvard Alumni Association, the Union Theological Seminary, the You Can Play Project, and is Board Chair for the Tectonic Theater Project, which created The Laramie Project.
