Jordan Harris

Blogger/Freelance Writer/Spelman College Alumna

Jordan Paige Harris was born to an Army Special Forces soldier of 25 years and a mother of profound intelligence due to her painful, yet enriching life experiences. As the youngest of five children, Jordan was destined for greatness. Her ever-changing lifestyle-- due to her father’s constant deployments and job assignments—equipped Jordan with the strength and curiosity to handle and explore life’s unpredictability. Hence, how she ended up at Spelman College, one of the nation’s premier institutions for women of African descent. As a junior, Jordan has already established a respectable reputation as a writer and journalist. She served as the executive editor of the campus newspaper The Spelman Spotlight her sophomore year and has contributed more than a few articles to Princeton University’s Business Today online journal. Jordan was also recognized as Most Personable Reporter by the Carolina Association of Black Journalists and was awarded Honorable Mention News Story by the North Carolina Press Club and First Place Sports Story by the North Carolina Scholastic Media Association. Jordan hopes to use the creativity she is gaining as an English major to continue to pursue her dream of becoming a journalist. Upon graduating from Spelman, Jordan hopes to attend Northwestern Medill School of Journalism and later move to New York City to kick off her writing career.
