President, Northern Arizona University
John D. Haeger has been Northern Arizona University’s president since November 2001 after joining the university to serve as provost in June 2000. During his term as president, Haeger has guided the university to new heights in student enrollment by innovating to make higher education accessible and affordable. By focusing on first-year initiatives and emphasizing technology as an important retention tool, he has demonstrated his commitment to departing from “business as usual” in higher education. Haeger also has ushered the university into its largest building boom since the 1970s.
