Jennifer Schwab

Jennifer Schwab is an expert in sustainability education specifically best practices in water management. She is also a noted columnist on Huffington Post whose “My Inner Green” articles on all things sustainable are widely followed by influentials in the U.S., Europe and the Mideast.

She was instrumental in creating Sierra Club Green Home, the first-ever social entrepreneurship model attempted by the Sierra Club in its 121-year history. The purpose of SCGH.com is to enlighten the average American about sustainable practices in their home and daily lifestyle. After running SCGH.com for five years, Jennifer sold the site to digital marketing aggregator Frac.tl.

While at SCGH.com, she developed the “GreenCheck” validation program and directory for green suppliers. She is also the founder and co-creator of Green Leader®, an internationally recognized sustainability education program for corporate managers and their staffs.

Jennifer studied environmental design and sustainability at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Following Art Center, she earned a Masters in Urban Planning and Sustainable Design at the University of California, Irvine. Jennifer is a LEED Accredited Practitioner and served on the Orange County USGBC Education Committee.

Ms. Schwab earned a Fulbright Scholarship in 2013-14 which she performed in Israel to teach a water management at Arava Institute in the Southern Israeli desert. Jennifer continues to serve as a consultant at Tel Aviv University for the Cohn-Minerva Project, which explores the social equity aspects of sustainability. She was awarded “Best Green Entrepreneur” by the 2013 Mumbai World CSR Congress, and was the 2012 Piece by Piece gala honoree in Los Angeles. She was an American delegate to The Economist 2013 Arctic Summit in Oslo, Norway and the 2014 “EMIC” (Ethiopia, Myanmar, Iran, Colombia) Impact Investing Conference in Switzerland.

She is a member of the Board of Advisors for Source Intelligence, a carbon footprint assessment company based in San Diego. Jennifer also serves on the Board of Advisors for New Media Expo, America’s largest social media conference and tradeshow.

Ms. Schwab is a frequent speaker at a wide variety of environmental conferences and forums. She is a widely quoted media analyst in publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Dwell, Fortune, Forbes, CNN Money, CNBC, and Consumer Reports, among others. She has also appeared on WSJ Lunch Break, NBC-U, CBS, NYT, and Fox News. Jennifer was previously a frequent green expert guest on ABC’s Good Morning America.

Away from work, Jennifer follows art and design avidly and is also a trained Cessna 172 and Beechcraft Duchess multi-engine pilot. She serves on the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Photography acquisitions committee in Los Angeles. She is also a member of YEC (yec.co), an under 40 entrepreneurs group that consists of Founder/CEOs that have taken a company through acquisition in the last three years.
