Guy Ziv

Dr. Guy Ziv is Assistant Professor of International Relations at American University’s School of International Service, where he teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses on U.S. foreign policy. He also is Founder and Director of the Israel National Security Project (INSP), a repository of statements by Israeli security experts concerning the strategic imperative of the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His research focuses on foreign policy decision-making, the influence of think tanks on American foreign policy, and the role of political elites in the Arab-Israeli conflict. His works have appeared in both prominent newspapers and scholarly journals. Dr. Ziv is the author of a new book entitled Why Hawks Become Doves: Shimon Peres and Foreign Policy Change in Israel, published by SUNY Press. He also is the author of a textbook reader, Readings in U.S. Foreign Policy, now in its second edition. Dr. Ziv, who earned his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in 2008, also has a background in policy, having worked at the U.S. Department of State, on Capitol Hill, and for leading non-profit organizations that promote U.S. engagement in Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking.
