Dr. Carlos Campo is the president of Ashland University in Ohio, where he began serving in 2015. He is also the chair of the Hispanic Education Alliance of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, and the former president of Regent University, where he served for five years. During his tenure at Regent, the university was the first institution in Virginia to receive an “A” rating from the American Council of Trustees and Alumni. Campo joined Regent University as vice president of academic affairs in 2008, following a 20-year career in academia, including serving as the chief academic officer at the College of Southern Nevada. He has been recognized in "Who's Who Among American Teachers" and as an "Outstanding Educator" and "Educator of the Year" by local and national organizations. The mentoring and leadership program was designed to increase retention and graduation rates for high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may be overlooked by traditional college selection processes, especially African-American and Latino men. Campo currently serves on educational and scholarly boards and organizations, among them the International Association of University Presidents, the Museum of the Bible, the National Alliance for Hispanic Education, the International Shakespeare Association and the Arthur Miller Society. Dr. Campo and his wife, Karen, have been married more than 35 years and have three adult children.
