Deborah Bassett

Nonprofit Consultant & Freelance Journalist

A graduate of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Deborah is fluent in French and Spanish and has traveled the globe extensively documenting the work and raising awareness and funding for various nonprofit projects and environmental and social initiatives.

Throughout her career Deborah has worked both in the field and behind the scenes with such organizations as Amazon Watch, Rainforest2Reef, Global Green USA, Conservation International, Habitat for Humanity, The 11th Hour Action Team, Surfers For Cetaceans, Channel G and The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

Based in LA, Deborah continues to travel frequently and works as a nonprofit consultant, freelance environmental journalist, and contributing editor at Sea Voices, a project highlighting the work of the world's leading ocean advocates. She sits on the Board of Advisors of The Blue Seals, a direct action marine conservation organization currently engaged in disaster relief efforts in the Gulf of Mexico.
