Corey Hutchins

Corey Hutchins is a journalist for The Colorado Independent, the Colorado-based correspondent for Columbia Journalism Review's United States Project, and a member of The Washington Post's Talent Network. He recently covered Colorado for the State Integrity Investigation at the Center for Public Integrity. A former alt-weekly reporter, he was twice named South Carolina's journalist of the year by the S.C. Press Association, and was editor and publisher of Alt Ledes, a public affairs collection at Medium. His work has appeared on the cover of The Nation and in Slate, The Washington Post, The Daily Beast, The Texas Observer and The Progressive magazine among others. He has reported on everything from the psychology of false confessions to the nuclear weapons industry and the Greek economic crisis— not to mention profiling the wild, drunken hobo clowns terrorizing the world's No. 1 tourist destination. In 2012, Hutchins was a stringer for CBS news covering the GOP presidential primary, and was South Carolina's lead researcher and reporter on the State Integrity Investigation, a risk analysis for corruption in all 50 state governments published by the Center for Public Integrity, Global Integrity and Public Radio International. His graphic novel about Alvin Greene, The Accidental Candidate, was published by McFarland.
