An attorney turned policy analyst, Arlene is the author of an independent study, "The Faces of Detention and Deportation: A Report of the Forced Repatriation of Immigrants from the English-Speaking Caribbean" (Fall 2009), was the first and only in-depth study on the issue. The report has been featured in the New York Daily News, Trinidad Guardian, Trinidad Newsday, and by the Migration Policy Institute as well as the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC Radio). Born in Trinidad, West Indies, Arlene graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada (BA Hons. Directed Interdisciplinary Studies) and earned her Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. Member in good standing, United States Chess Federation (USCF), representing Team Bryant Park (2016-present) in the Bankers Athletic League (BAL), New York City's premier recreational chess league.
