Anjali Sastry

In the classroom and the field, Anjali Sastry applies systems thinking, action research, and business model analysis to social challenges. Over the past decade at MIT Sloan School of Management, she has worked with front-line enterprises in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia on close to 100 healthcare innovation projects (see http://groundwork.mit.edu). Looking to the future, she is now launching NEXT Lab, a collaboration of companies, MIT Executive MBA students, and faculty. Anjali’s PhD in System Dynamics and SB degrees in Physics and Russian are from MIT. She loves working with innovators, from student startups to fellow educators, and recently spent a residency with Tata Trusts in India to spur innovation and systems thinking. Anjali serves on the faculty at Harvard Medical School, the Board of Directors of global NGO Management Sciences for Health, the Medical Advisory Board of novel charity Wonderwork, and the Governing Body of the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum. Practical insights from her work are distilled in the popular press and her HBS book, “Fail Better: Design Smart Mistakes and Succeed Sooner.” Her first book, “Parenting Your Child with Autism: Practical Solutions, Strategies, and Advice for Helping Your Family,” combines personal experience, research evidence, and management expertise.
