Dr. Joseph Horrigan

Executive Director, Tactical Sports Medicine, Associate Professor, Southern California University of Health Sciences

As Executive Director of Tactical Sports Medicine at the Southern California University of Health Sciences, Dr. Horrigan is leading a pilot program and health care research for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He is also an associate professor teaching musculoskeletal differential diagnosis to third-year chiropractic students, as well as various subjects in postgraduate sports medicine education. Dr. Horrigan continues his role as President of the Soft Tissue Center and evaluates complex cases on a part-time basis in private practice. With multiple board certifications, Dr. Horrigan brings a storied 25-year background divided between sports medicine and strength and conditioning. These specializations have given him a unique understanding of both performance and loss of performance, and how to maneuver effectively between the two. Widely regarded as an expert in his field, Dr. Horrigan is a frequent lecturer whose original peer-reviewed research, presentations and articles have been published extensively. He also lends his expertise to Hollywood, having served as the medical and/or athletic performance consultant on numerous films, including “The Hunger Games,” “The Matrix,” “Seabiscuit,” “Savages,” “Django Unchained,” “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle,” “Spider-Man 2,” “Things We Lost in the Fire,” “The Skeleton Key,” “Che: Part One,” “Che: Part Two,” “The Wolfman,” “The Lovely Bones,” and “Hateful Eight,” as well as being a medical consultant for the TV show “S.T.R.O.N.G.”
