Roosh V Cancels Global Meetups After Security Concerns

SLOW CLAP.

Misogynist blogger Roosh V has cancelled all of his global meetups due to security concerns.

The U.S. blogger of Return of The Kings had encouraged his followers globally to meet on Feb. 6 at 8 p.m. in 43 countries, including 10 cites in Canada.

"I can no longer guarantee the safety or privacy of the men who want to attend on February 6, especially since most of the meetups can not [sic] be made private in time," he wrote on his site on Wednesday. "I apologize to all the supporters who are let down by my decision."

He adds that while he can't stop men who want to meet in private groups (and by looking at the website's comments, it seems like many users still do), all the potential meetup locations (at least 156 of them) have been removed from the site.

Roosh V, whose real name is Daryush Valizadeh, is known for his pro-rape, homophobic comments and “neomasculinity seminars" for heterosexual men. In August 2015, he hosted a lecture in Mississauga, Ont. — The State of Man — despite backlash and protests.

This news comes just a day after local Toronto women's boxing group Toronto Newsgirls Boxing Club announced on Facebook they too would protest the event — with gloves and all.

“We would show up wearing boxing gloves and take it from there,” owner and head coach Savoy Howe wrote on her gym's page.
